This is the story of how the author uprooted wife and family to live on the banks of England's most beautiful chalk stream. He converted a delapidated stable block, within earshot of the tumbling waters of a weir. From that base he got to know the river intimately, month by month hatch by hatch, in weather fair and foul. He now lives out the angler's dream - fishing almost daily, all year round. His enviable proximity to the chalkstream has enabled him to observe river life closely, witnessing details of fly and trout behaviour that are often overlooked by day visitors. His restless, inventive mind is always "thinking" fishing, translating what he sees into some highly original fly patterns, which are fully described in this chronicle.
